Until very lately, at least in the West, political propaganda has relied on visuals depicting images of extreme masculinity, emanating strength, fortitude, and, of course, power. Not a few of these boarded on the ridiculous, while others, particularly in the Soviet idiom, went beyond caricature right to suggestion, extolling fellowship between workers, soldiers, scientists, and citizens in such a physically familiar manner, you might wonder if the USSR wasn't swimmingly gay (while of course being quite the opposite well beyond the death of the Soviets).
